There are a number of ways to cook tuna, but if you want to learn how to cook tuna steaks, there are some simple methods that will bring out the best flavors of tuna.

Grilling tuna steaks

This is a simple recipe and is ideal for beginners. Take 4 fresh tuna steaks and marinate with an entire bottle of Italian dressing for three to four hours. Clean your grates, oil them, and light up the grill. Place the tuna steaks on the hottest part of the grill and let it remain for about two minutes. Flip the steaks once you feel it is cooked on one side. You could grill each side for about 5 minutes or until done. While it is getting done, season with salt and pepper. Serve with a bowl of salad and green beans.

Grilling tuna steaks (marinated)

Take 4 fresh tuna steaks. For the marinade: Take 2 cloves of garlic, 3 tbsp. soy sauce, juice of half a lime, dried red chili flakes, one tbsp. rice vinegar, one tbsp. sesame oil, and one-inch sliced ginger. Combine all ingredients in a glass baking dish and place the tuna steaks and refrigerate for about an hour. Turn the tuna steaks a couple of times for it to absorb the marinade. Then allow it to come to room temperature. Clean and oil the grates and preheat the grill. After it becomes hot, place the tuna steaks and let it cook on one side. Keep basting with cooking oil. Flip it over and cook for five minutes. Take care not to cook the tuna for more than five minutes or it will break. It should be cooked on the outside, but should be medium rare inside or it will not remain juicy. Tuna should never be overcooked.

You could also use another recipe for grilling tuna steak. Take four fresh tuna steaks and marinate with one tbsp. oregano, one tbsp. basil, ¼ cup olive oil or cooking oil, 2 tbsp. lemon juice, 2 cloves minced garlic, salt and pepper for seasoning. Follow the same procedure as mentioned above. Marinate and then grill for about 5 minutes on each side.
